To extend the hand of Christ to all those that we come in contact with through love, discipleship, leadership, and compassion, to help grow His kingdom in faith, belief, mercy and grace.
Pastor Mike Hirschfelt is the co-vocational pastor at East Liberty Church of the Nazarene. He is a graduate of Ohio State University and works full-time for YRC Freight where he has been employed 24 years. He has always had a heart for the spiritual nature since he was a child. Pastor Mike was saved while attending graduate school. He is one who literally “dialed the number on the screen” and prayed for the Lord’s forgiveness. In 2001, he felt the Lord calling him, as he had as a child, to pursue full-time ministry. He graduated from the Nazarene Course of Ministerial Studies and was a Youth Pastor at Canal Fulton COTN for over fifteen years. He has been the Senior Pastor at East Liberty COTN since 2015.
Pastor Mike's hobbies include golf and reading. He and his wife both enjoy traveling together and spending time with family. However, his greatest passion is seeing people come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
These are the beliefs Nazarenes hold to be true:
We believe in one God—the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
We believe that the Old and New Testament Scriptures, given by plenary inspiration, contain all truth necessary to faith and Christian living.
We believe that man is born with a fallen nature, and is, therefore, inclined to evil, and that continually.
We believe that the finally impenitent are hopelessly and eternally lost.
We believe that the atonement through Jesus Christ is for the whole human race; and that whosoever repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin.
We believe that believers are to be sanctified wholly, subsequent to regeneration, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that the Holy Spirit bears witness to the new birth, and also to the entire sanctification of believers.
We believe that our Lord will return, the dead will be raised, and the final judgment will take place.
